Running Withdrawals

Welp, I guess I have finally done it - I have hurt my hip/outer thigh and I am now going on day four without running. I keep trying to figure out what I did wrong -

I did feel a "pull" when I decided to do sprints -which by the way I was extremely proud of myself for being able to run at full speed for a long , okay it was really a short distance but it FELT like a long one in my victorious heart :) Just my luck though, trying to be a "cool runner" when I am thinking I should have just kept my nice easy jog and been happy with that accomplishment SIGH

Now to be honest, I have had issues with my hips in the past - especially if I sit too long but jogging and walking helped it - maybe that is why I hurt myself  - I had cut back on the walking and focused more on running - that is an interesting thought. I finally found a website that said I could walk and do low impact if it's a Hip Flexor injury - I really do not want to go to the doctor and I hope I have not made it a chronic injury because I refused to acknowledge it for 2 weeks and kept running. It doesn't hurt when I run - only after I have been sitting for a period of time and it does me limp a little, especially when I first stand up. So I have been trying to stretch my hip flexor and have even put ice on it two nights (I absolutely hate cold against my skin) and I already take an anti-inflammatory Mobic for my knees.

Another cause could be that I do need a new pair of running shoes - my tread pattern indicates that either I am a neutral runner but it does concern me that I'm wearing a little close to the edge and from what I found could maybe indicate that I am supinater

This website is where I found that https://treadlabs.com/blogs/insoles-reach-your-stride/34786373-what-are-your-running-shoes-trying-to-tell-you

Brooks has just come out with the Glycerin 15 and I tried a pair on last weekend and they feel heavenly....so....Payday Friday I am hoping to have a new pair.

Have you injured your hip area or other injury? What did you do to get through not being able to run? Really I can get through this - just need to figure out how ;) I am looking forward to at least getting to walk on my lunch tomorrow. I am so afraid that I am not going to be able run again and that makes me very sad...
